Heartbreakers is about Max Conners (Sigourney Weaver) and her daughter Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who con rich men out money by marrying them. This is not a new premise, this happens to millions of men each day, women conning them for drinks, dinner and bus fare. Anyways, Weaver and Hewitt are looking to score phat money in Palm Springs and rook cigarette mogul William B. Tensy (Gene Hackman). Along the way Hewitt meets a ruggedly handsome bar owner played by Jason Lee, who she begins to con but then falls in love with.
This film reminds me of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels ( 1988 ), but I think Hewitt has a much better ass then Steve Martin. The unsung heroes of this film are Ray Liotta and Jason Lee. Gene Hackman got top billing, but his character wasn't that great. Lee, known for his work in Kevin Smith films, was sarcasticly funny. Liotta, Goodfellas ( 1990 ), was also great as a car repossessor/ jilted lover.
The DVD had some good features. There were two documentaries on the making of the film, deleted scenes and director's audio commntary.
Heartbreakers isn't Momento, but it is an entertaining film. Check it out to at least see Hewitt and Weaver.
